Columbus Middle School has tomorrow’s business leaders

Columbus takes pride in its business sense. That’s why it has started teaching students about the economy.

Columbus Middle School recently awarded its first series of economic awareness certificates, demonstrating a commitment to making strong business leaders.

The group of students used their new found skills as ambassadors for Canada at the International Economic Summit (IEC) at the Mississippi College in Clinton last month.

The Mississippi Council on Economic Education sponsors the event. IEC is in its fourth year and had more than 650 students compete.

They competed against other schools in challenges that measured their knowledge of economic terms, such as GDP, and other business and financial knowledge.

And their hard work paid off. The group received the distinction of being named Summit Champs.
