Southeast increased overall PMI in six states
The Southeast’s manufacturing industry was more upbeat last month.
The Southeastern states PMI increased 2.2 points to 50.6 in January, according to the Southeast Purchasing Managers Index.
Manufacturing jobs increased 3.2 points to 55.2 in Mississippi, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.
Finished inventory increased 1 point to 50 in Georgia, Mississippi and Tennessee.
Commodity prices increased 5.4 points to 65.6 in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Mississippi.
The PMI analysis, conducted by the Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Ga., reports that 62 percent of manufacturers in the Southeast expect even higher production over the next several months.
Kennesaw State University’s report includes six Southeastern states. Alabama, Florida and Mississippi outperformed its neighbors on the PMI scale.
