No tears here. Tissue maker Sofidel brings 230+ jobs to Hattiesburg

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Sofidel America Corp. will begin recruitment for approximately 250 positions immediately and will start production at its new Hattiesburg location in December. The international tissue paper manufacturer purchased the 400,00-square-foot building in the Hattiesburg-Forrest County Industrial Park from Green Bay Converting, Inc. Green Bay had previous plans to expand its center of operations.

The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) touted Sofidel’s significant investment as the company adds production lines and continues expansion. Sofidel American Corp. is a subsidiary of a privately owned Italian company with operations in 13 countries. The company’s American base of operations is in Philadelphia.

In a press statement, the company stated key factors to committing to this location were Mississippi’s “pro-business environment”, “immediate occupancy” and “the skilled labor force”. Sofidel also has operations in Haines City, Florida, Henderson, Nevada, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Columbus, Ohio.
